Core training is provided through the Workshop Shaping the Future (WSF), which takes place over 2-3 days in a single annual edition and is mandatory for all Assistant Professors and Researchers in their probationary period who were hired since the previous edition.

The WSF is usually held outside Técnico, in an immersion format, and covers some of the following areas:

• Integration into academic life and Técnico
• Academic leadership
• Ethics and integrity issues
• Scientific independence
• Career development strategies
• Impact of sabbaticals abroad
• Interaction with and supervision of students
• Teaching-learning methods and pedagogical practices
• Fundraising

This training aims to promote the professional affirmation of new professors and researchers at Técnico in their areas of expertise and the improvement of their pedagogical skills, encouraging their active contribution to teaching excellence at Técnico.

The various management bodies and services of the School are represented at the WSF, to which members of Técnico’s scientific community are also invited to share their successful experiences in the areas of scientific and academic leadership, inspiring new teachers and researchers with their career paths.
