Review of the Probationary Period
The diagram below shows the stages involved in reviewing the work of Assistant Professors and Researchers during their probationary period, from the start of their contract to the submission of their final report for evaluation by the Scientific Council. This diagram shows (approximately) the milestones for the submission of annual progress reports, interim reports, and final reports, as well as the corresponding reviews.
It should be noted that the probationary period lasts five (5) years for Assistant Professors, five (5) years for Assistant Researchers recruited since 2025, and three (3) years for Assistant Researchers recruited before 2025.
The activity of each Assistant Professor and Researcher on probation is reviwed annually with the aim of assisting their career development, by providing recommendations applicable to the teacher or researcher and/or the Department(s) where they are integrated.
The annual review begins at the end of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years of the contract; at the end of the 2nd year of the contract, in addition to the annual review, an interim review is also carried out.
The annual and interim reviews follow the workflow described here and are based on a progress report written in English by the teacher or researcher, consisting of:
- Scientific-pedagogical project (or equivalent document) submitted by the Assistant Professor or Researcher as part of their recruitment process, to be included only in the first progress report;
- Updated Curriculum Vitae, prepared in accordance with the Academic Record Template;
- Executive summary of the activity carried out, prepared in accordance with the Executive Report Template PAX or the Activity Report Template IAX (see Annex I), including a description of the scientific-pedagogical project implemented and the use of the startup funds made available.
This executive summary should focus on:
* the annual activity carried out, in the case of annual reviews, at the end of the 1st and 3rd years of the contract;
* the activity carried out since the beginning of the contract, in the case of the mid-term review, at the end of the 2nd year of the contract.Documents
